Activities children A creche for children between the age of 1 to 4 has 15 children. Waiting lists are long but shortage of space does not allow us to ke in more childrenA primary outreach in 2 shifts based on our successful pwhy model has also begun and reaches out to almost 300 kids. CLass VI, VII, VIII and IX have also been added as we have a new teacher who can teach these.
Activities women Stitching and tailoring classes as well as beauty classes have begun. 60 women are attending the courses that have a duration of 6 months. We also have long waiting lists! An evening adult education class has also begun and we soon begin english conversation classes on popular demand. But all these are just ways of getting the confidence and trust of local women. Our main objective remains to raise awareness on issues we feel are important such as hygiene, nutrition, the girl child, domestic violence, legal rights and HIV AIDS. We plan top introduce these slowly and gently as the social fabric of the area is very conventional and highly charged. To find out how much we need to run the women centre click here |
