The Team Leaders
Meet Rani, Shamika and Dharmendra. This trio steers project why with great brio! The Care Takers Urmila, Geeta and Seema have been looking after our very tiny tots for many years. Urmila is warm, affectionate and loving. A surrogate mother to all the little toddlers she has an endearing way of getting them to do exactly what she wants! Seema is your fun loving gal always game for anything and Geeta works may seem to be the disciplinarian of the team, but loves the little ones just as much. The Special Ones They are Kalpana, Shagun, Surya Prakash and Shamika. Together they form the special gang for very special people. Armed with oodles of patience, tons of love and an overload of commitment, they care for a motley crew of children and young adults with very special needs. Their mission: to ensure that their proteges have the best time possoible while learning to be as independent as they can. The main ingredient of their winning formula: laughter! The Primary Gang
Meet Anita, Anita and Himani.
Israel and Ritu, the oldest and the youngest! Israel has been with for since many years and is also the senior most teacher we have. He wears two hats: that of librarian and that of primary teacher. Ritu is one of our ex students and the latest member of our team. Together they bring the best to the kids.
Meet Neha, Sophiya, Neetu, Pushpa and Shipra: the formidable Okhla Pirmary gang!
Sujata, Archana, Priyanka and Praveen make the dynamic primary section quartet of the women centre. They are incredibly committed and love their work with passion. No wonder the children like them so much! In the cockpit
This incredible team has made Anou Ma'am almost redundant. The project runs like clockwork thus vindicating the decision many cynics mocked: that of employing only people from the community. Whereas once Anou was spending all waking hours on the field, she now runs it from behind thes scened like a gentle prompter

The Secondary Crew
This is a one man show and what a show! Naresh began teaching senior secondary students way back in 2001 when we took
on what seemed like an impossible challenge: prepare a bunch of boys for their class X boards. His classroom then
was the pavement in a harsh winter, his salary: loads of cups of tea.
The children wanted a secondary section and children always get what they want at project why. So a couple of years ago
Okhla got its secondary section. Today Probir and Sonia teach 80 kids from class VI to XI
Meet Geeta, Ashish, Rajesh, Parth and Kalpana our women centre secondary team. They are one of a kind. Geeta supports her family with the help of our job with us and is a great teacher and trouble shooter. Ashish is a wow maths teacher. Rajesh is a great teacher and with Parth always willing to walk that extra mile. The Computer Geeks
It all began with one computer and too many students! Today the Giri Nagar computer centre has 10 computers and many students. The centre is steered ably by Vijay and Dipankar. the masure of their success: the fab jobs there alumni hold!
A computer centre in a garbage dump: an aberration for some, a reality at Project Why.
She learnt computers at the very centre she today leads. Meet Neha our computer teacher at the women centre. The Skill Givers
Neetu and Renu are gals to be proud of. They are our stitching teacher and our beautician teacher. They are both ex students of project Why who completed their training with us and were more than willing to take on the challenge and replace our previous teachers who left us when they got married. They are bothe committed and great teachers Behind the Scenes
Often those behind the scenes get forgotten. But not at project why! Roshni and Ram Bacchan are pillars of thr women centre. Roshni keeps the centre spick and span and provides the staff with nourishment whereas Ram Bacchan guards the centre night or day. |
